Join me for a palette cleanser over on the podcast blog today before the new podcast series starts. I’m sharing my learnings from Q1, why I’ve scrapped my 2024 goals and why that is okay.

We've had quite a few different series running on the podcast lately. So, I wanted to take this episode as a chance to reset before our new segment starts. On the first Thursday of each month, I’ll be sharing the Boss News. It's basically a segment where I'll share everything going on in our boss community here at A Branch of Holly.

Tuesday Shorties on the podcast are making a comeback! Yes, indeed. In January 2023, I introduced these short pep-talk style episodes to the podcast. During my maternity leave, I used snippets from older episodes for these Shorties because I have a lot of content I can repurpose. Then, I needed to focus on prepping the core weekly episodes to go live while I was on leave, so I paused the Shorties. But now, I've been able to rearrange things and make space for them again because I realised I missed recording them, and I know you enjoy listening to them too. They'll be back soon on the podcast, so listen for a more spontaneous, behind-the-scenes style recording.

overview of q1 and looking ahead to the rest of the year

I thought I'd give you a quick overview of what went down in Q1 and what's in store for the rest of the year. As you can see from the title, my 2024 goals have taken a complete turn. But that's all good, and I want to fill you in on what that looks like.

In Q1, it was all about getting back into the swing of things after my maternity leave. Evelyn arrived a bit later than expected in October, so this year, I've been adjusting to a new working routine. I've transitioned from four days a week from half nine to four, to working five mornings a week, Monday to Friday, from nine till about half 12, usually because I'm picking Jacob up from nursery.

At first, I wasn't sure how I'd manage, how to structure my days, but I realised I was too focused on daily structure and not looking at the bigger picture of my weeks. In January, I kicked things off with a bang by hosting an offer party, which was a massive success. I enrolled over 50 clients across five different offers during the last week of January, which was a lot of fun. I also launched the Embodied Boss Collective, my brand new signature program, with the founding member round. The women in the collective have created their first 90-day plan and are starting to implement it. It's surreal because I've spent so long crafting this offer, and now it's finally here.

Moving forward, my focus is on surprising and delighting, creating an incredible experience, shaping the curriculum, and then opening up to launch for a new cohort, maybe in August or September.

Q2's focus is also on building out the curriculum for the Boss 360 Planning System, which I'm super excited about. It'll include access to the curriculum, monthly Q&A calls, daily support in our Facebook group, and new drops of training or templates each month.

I've decided to add a VIP tier to the Boss 360 Club, possibly called the Boss 360 VIP Club. Each quarter will have a theme, with new training, workbooks, Q&A sessions, book club calls, and potential plan-with-me sessions. I'm excited about the possibilities and delivering more value.

I've also revamped my newsletter, which I've been inconsistent with for a while. It's coming back with a new structure: value teaching emails on Tuesdays, podcast episode emails on Thursdays, and Behind the Boss emails on Sundays, including a monthly video.

The first edition of Behind the Boss, focusing on how I've changed my 2024 goals, is going out this Sunday. If you're not on the list, head to abranchofholly.com/boss to sign up.

my Personal goals

In terms of personal projects, one personal milestone coming up soon is starting the weaning process for Evelyn. She'll be six months old on April 7th – time really flies! Additionally, Jacob will be attending nursery for extra mornings, making it four mornings a week for him. It's so crazy how quickly things change, but both of them are thriving.

Another project on my 2024 goals list, though marked with a big *, is the introduction of physical products. I've been asked for years if I'll ever create physical products, and until now, I didn't feel fully ready to do so. However, I now know the systems I've developed are robust enough to translate into physical products. And I feel like the system that I have created works so well; definitely well enough to put into physical products. I feel I've pretty much nailed them now.

Honestly, I've never been more excited about my business personally than I am right now. We're coming up to seven years in business this August and I have so much love for what I do. This is so cheesy, but my love for the business grows more and more each year. I'm just really proud of my work-life harmony, especially as a mum of two.

why i scrapped my 2024 goals

My 2024 goals have completely changed. And I just want to give you a little bit of context as to why they have changed.

When I returned to work after my maternity leave in January, I expected an identity shift, having experienced a massive one after giving birth to Jacob. But, the shift was even bigger than I thought. I was coming into this new work and structure, I was cutting down my hours, I was only doing you know, three and a half, four hours a day. And I also really decided to double down even more on my zone of genius.

In 2023, I dipped my toe solely into being a business coach specialising in productivity, planning, and strategy. But in 2024, I've really decided to micro niche into that into all things, you know, strategic planning, business development, productivity, mindset, accountability, those like my big, big things I want to talk about.

I've always emphasised to my clients the importance of taking action to gain clarity, rather than waiting for it to magically appear. Yet, in Q1 of this year, I found myself caught in the cycle of waiting for clarity, which got in the way of my progress. When we’re in this cycle, we wait for clarity, we don't take action, we don't have momentum. What actually is true, is that taking action creates clarity. Taking messy action is crucial but I may have overdone it, leading to lots of confusion and imbalance.

Now, I've been diligently working to gain clarity on my revised goals and vision for the year. For my business, I've established five clear objectives:

  1. Fully build out the Embodied Boss Collective and reach a certain number of paying clients by year-end.

  2. Fully develop the Boss 360 Club, launch the VIP tier, and enrol a specific number of members by year-end.

  3. Get clear on my office suite, outlining a plan for its fulfilment.

  4. Rebrand the podcast from "Busy to Boss" to reflect my current focus.

  5. Update the website, including a design refresh and SEO improvements.

I'll be sharing how these goals break down into my 90-day plan in my next Behind the Boss newsletter. I've also prioritised wealth management, recognising the importance of not just earning money, but managing it effectively and how it impacts my family and my life.

If your goals have changed like mine, know that it's okay and can lead to greater clarity and fulfilment. Don’t be afraid to change path and do what works for you.
